RevisionDeck is a study app. To help you revise, it has to hold on to your work — your subjects, the material you upload, the flashcards and quizzes you make, and what you and the AI tutor said to each other. This page explains exactly what that means, in plain English, and how to get all of it back or delete it.
Short version: your study material is yours. We don't sell it, we don't advertise against it, and we don't track you around the internet.
Three kinds of thing, all of it because the product needs it to work.
RevisionDeck has no advertising and no tracking cookies, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone or build a profile of you to sell to advertisers. Your uploaded material is never shown to other users.
We do use Vercel Analytics to count page views, so we can see which parts of the site are used. It is privacy-first by design: it sets no cookies, doesn't follow you across other websites, and doesn't collect anything that identifies you personally — it counts visits, not people. That is the only measurement on the site; there is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, and no advertising tracker.
We're a small operation and we don't run our own datacentre, so a few companies process data on our behalf. They are contractually limited to doing what we ask.
We keep email to a minimum. There are the essential account ones — confirming your address and resetting your password — which we always send. Then, unless you turn them off, there's a welcome when you join, the occasional exam or deadline reminder built from your own calendar, a gentle nudge if you sign up but don't get started, and the rare product update when we ship something new.
Every non-essential email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can choose exactly which kinds you receive in Settings. We don't send anything else, and we never share your address with advertisers.
Every table in the database has row-level security switched on, which means the database itself refuses to return one person's rows to another person — it isn't left to the app to remember. Uploaded files sit in a private bucket that can't be read from a public URL. Everything travels over HTTPS. No system is perfect, but the boring fundamentals are in place, and we've tested them rather than assumed them.
We use a cookie to keep you signed in, plus a few small functional cookies so the app can render correctly the moment a page loads — your theme, accent colour and time zone (the last so the calendar shows the right day for where you are). These are read by our server to render the page; none of them are advertising or tracking cookies, which is why you've never seen a cookie banner here. Your browser also keeps some preferences purely on your device — like which notifications you've already seen — and those never reach our servers.
Your data stays for as long as your account does, because that's rather the point of a revision app — last term's flashcards are still useful. When you delete your account it goes, properly: your files are removed from storage, every row is deleted, and the login itself is destroyed. Backups roll off within 30 days. Deletion is not reversible and we can't recover an account afterwards.
If you're in the UK or the EU you also have rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR to object to processing, restrict it, or complain to your data protection regulator. Email us and we'll help rather than send you a form.
RevisionDeck is built for students, but you need to be at least 13 to have an account. If you're under 18, please check with a parent, carer or teacher before uploading coursework. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we'll delete it.
If this policy changes in a way that actually affects you, we'll say so in the app rather than quietly editing the page and moving the date. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
Questions, concerns, or a request to delete something — email hello@revisiondeck.com and a human will reply.
